Forbes Center for the Performing Arts Studio Theatre, April 2017 Director: Chris Sanderson Technical Director: Sam Spear Still Alive is a new musical written by Ricky Drummond. Plot:
The narrator introduces us to the main character Jon, who is a nerd with a girl friend who is way to cool for him, but loves him anyways. He works at a scientific lab that accidentally causes a zombie out break. Jon's girlfriend gets caught in crossfire with the zombies and Jon has to replace most of her body with robot parts to save her. When the zombies become to much, a full robot army is constructed to fight of the zombies. Little did Jon or anyone know that the robots would enslave the human race and send people who were threats like Jon to an off world prison. With all his friends either enslaved humans, zombies, robots, or zombie robots, it's up to Jon to stay alive and free humanity from his mistakes.
Inspiration:
The set is an industrial environment with metal pipes and fencing creating a space with many entrances and exits. A truss structure frames the band on the top level to elevate the rock concert moments in the show. Parts of the set appear to be held up by electronics as well as items like a stack of board games reflecting elements of Jon's personality. This stark environment contrasts with the zombie army and gives the robots an advantage in their impending battles. When the robots take over, extra wires would fly in and litter the space making their presence even more difficult to defeat.
